I haven't posted in a while because things are now in motion. I've met an interesting person who has joined me on my journey to create this video game. He’s an experienced developer, 3D model artist, and will now become the co-author of European Directive. His nickname is Kai Pala, and he’s originally from Spain.
Together, we are working on changing some game mechanics to incorporate 3D elements, though from a gameplay perspective, nothing will change. We’re currently prototyping 3D models and converting them into a 2D perspective using pixel art UV mapping. Once this process is complete, we’ll decide whether to stick with pure 2D sprite creation for game assets or transition to 3D modeling to save time on other tasks. To be more precise, Pala is leading the 3D work, as I’m still learning that area.
Meanwhile, I’ve been focused on improving the dialogue editor to create more complex dialogue trees with specific requirements. Some dialogue options will now require a certain value in specific attributes or skills; otherwise, the choice won’t appear. For example, players with a higher level of manipulation will see options unavailable to those without manipulative tendencies. I’ve also implemented the ability to assign quests through dialogue choices, allowing conversations with NPCs to lead to case assignments and completions.
It’s been a productive month, to say the least!
